9TH Annual Flagstaff Folk Festival

June 26th and 27th, 2010

10am to 6pm both days

Flagstaff- The Flagstaff Folk Festival will take place on June 26th and 27th, 2010 at the Coconino Center for the Arts and Arizona Historical Society Pioneer Museum, and proudly showcases the best in folk and acoustic music in Arizona and beyond. The festival features over 100 acts, workshops, a Saturday night dance, and more. The festival features four performance stages running both Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 6pm. Stages are either indoors or outside with covering. Any attendee may also participate in the provided workshops. Aside from scheduled performances, informal jamming is an integral part of the festival every year; musicians – performing or not – are encouraged to bring an instrument or two along and join in a jam or workshop. Attendees are also welcome to participate in the “Band Scramble” Sunday afternoon, where informal bands are created and compete, providing the last performance of the weekend. A dance will be held Saturday night at Sechrist Elementary School, on Fort Valley Road next to the festival grounds. The dance will feature a variety of callers and an open band hosted by Flagstaff’s Just Desserts. All dances are taught and experience is not necessary. Come alone or with friends. Admission for the dance is $5. 7:30pm – 11:00pm. Musical instrument sales on Saturday will benefit the Young Jammers program. There will be an instrument swap from 9 am to 11 am on Sunday. Food vendors this year include Primo’s hot dogs (with vegetarian options), Navajo Tacos, and Italian Ice and other desserts. Festival T-shirts, printed on-site, will be available all weekend. Festival Artist CDs are available near the Coconino Center for the Art’s main entrance. Admission for the festival is $3/person or $9/family per day. Festival admission includes access to both the Native American Art Exhibit at Coconino Center for the Arts  and Arizona Historical Society Pioneer Museum. The Flagstaff Folk Festival is produced by The Flagstaff Friends of Traditional Music in partnership with Flagstaff Cultural Partners and the Arizona Historical Society Pioneer Museum.
